Who's Afraid

I received Jim Korkis' new book "Who's Afraid of the Song of the South and Other Forbidden Disney Stories (Paperback; 276 pgs) as a Christmas present.

Ask anyone who collects Disney films and they'll ask you the same question, "When will Song of the South be released on DVD"? Heck, this question constantly comes up at the annual Disney stock holders meeting.

Jim Korkis doesn't offer any opinions in his well-researched book. He just lays out all the facts and figures around the creation of this film. He leaves this decision making up to the individual reader as to whether or not the topic is controversial.

The second half of the book is devoted minor points in Disney history that have almost achieved urban legend status.

It's a fun book to read - the chapters are short and you can jump around and read any chapter in any order. But, it's not a book for casual fans. Only diehards will enjoy this much minutia.
